Our Core Curriculum

We value your child's education.

Your child’s development is at the heart of everything we do. Their experiences and learning, while at Chestnut Nursery Schools, are key to both their physical and mental growth. We provide a fun, well-rounded curriculum, offering your child fundamental life skills, and encouraging a desire to learn more. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS), while also offering a number of core learning values.

Little Explorers

Mini Artists

Little Communicators

Forest Schools

The concept of Forest Schools is to encourage and inspire individuals of any age through positive, outdoor experiences. By participating in engaging, motivating and achievable tasks and activities in a woodland environment, each participant has an opportunity to develop intrinsic motivation, sound, emotional and social skills. Chestnut Nursery Schools embodies the Forest School philosophy, and encourages the development of your child through outdoor activities and play. This can range from gardening to exploring woodland areas. All practices are carried out in a safe environment, allowing your child to thrive in the natural world around them. It is important that our children gain an understanding and appreciation for the importance of caring for our environments.

Forest Schools has demonstrated success with children of all ages who visit the same local woodlands on a regular basis. The children have the opportunity to learn about the natural environment, how to handle risks and most importantly, how to use their own initiative to solve problems and co-operate with others. With large outdoor areas at our nurseries, your child can make the most of these experiences.
