We are looking for a passionate, friendly and hard-working SEND Support to join our nursery team based at Chestnut Nursery School Cottenham.

This is a full-time role working Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, following a shift pattern. Cottenham is open between the hours of 07.30 - 18:30.

The successful applicant should have knowledge of the Equality Act 2010, Children & Families Act 2014, the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014, The SEND Code of Practice 2015 and the Early Years Foundations Stage Statutory Framework. As SEND Support, you are a key member of the nursery team, supporting children with additional needs to have full access to all the learning opportunities they nursery has to offer.

Key Duties

• Supporting the delivery, monitoring and recording of IEP targets

• Work 1:1.

• Liaising with outside agencies.

• Building relationships with the children and their families.

• Promoting positive relationships with parents, children and colleagues

• Ensuring the health, safety and well-being of the children at all times

• Take necessary steps to safeguard all who access the setting, adhering to the safeguarding policy.

• Flexible in working hours if required.

• Support daily routines.

• Follow policies and procedures.

• Supporting the children and team members.

• Light cleaning duties.

• Maintain a high level of supervision.

• Maintain confidentiality.

• Keeping up to date with developments with SEND policies and documents.

Position Requirements

Required

• DBS will be undertaken.

• Child-centred approach to play and learning.

• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.

• Knowledge of the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014.

• Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework (EYFS).

• Excellent organisation skills and time-management.

• Knowledge & understanding of safeguarding (training provided).

Desired

• On the update service.

• Qualified Level 2/3.

• Excellent understanding of SEND policies.
